American Fare at Greenlake Bar and Grill

Greenlake Bar and Grill sits on a prime corner next to Greenlake in Seattle where you can get your all American burger or in my case a turkey club.

The turkey club is a generous sandwich with thick chewy ciabatta bread which is filling but not dry. Between the bread they've layered deli style turkey, avocado, bacon, lettuce, tomato and provolone together using their pesto mayo to make sure it all sticks. The smokiness of the bacon with the basil in the pesto make the flavors melt nicely together in your mouth along with the turkey. Overall a really great sandwich!

Sandwiches and burgers are always served with a side of their shoe-string fries that are extremely addicting. They are the perfect combination of salty and crunchy and I just love always having one in my mouth :)

Since their portions are so generous I was only able to eat half of my sandwich which made it super cost effective since the other half provided lunch to my husband the next day.

Greenlake Bar and Grill is part of "Neighborhood Grills" which also includes Eastlake Bar and Grill, Southlake Bar and Grill and Lake Forest Bar and Grill. They all have similar menus with their own variations and specials. And most important they all serve the same french fries the same way so you'll never be disappointed.

Caprese Skewers an Easy Win at Any Party - A Recipe

Whenever I'm hosting an party or heading to a pot-luck I usually put together my easy-peasy caprese skewers that are simple, delicious and always a crowd pleaser.

What you'll need:

- 8 to 16oz medium mozzarella cheese. Don't get block or the fresh mozzarella. You want the slightly round mozzarella that's not too soft and not too hard.

- Fresh basil

- Grape tomato (or your favorite small type)

- Pack of 6 inch skewers

Putting it together:

- Chop the mozzarella into 1/2 inch squares and make sure you have at least one side that's pretty flat so it will sit nicely. You should get about 50 to 75 pieces from one mozzarella.

- Tear a small piece of basil and put on top of the cheese cube.

- Take a tomato with a skewer and skewer the tomato to the basil and cheese and plate.

- Repeat steps until you run out of cheese or tomatoes and serve!

Optional

- For additional flavor you can try different mozzarellas or tomatoes.

- You can drizzle with olive oil/seasoned olive oil for additional flavor.

Enjoying the Experience Music Project and Sci-Fi Museum

On the first Thursday of September we took advantage of going to the Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum in Seattle for free at their shared facility saving us $30.00. Looks like the next All Access Thursday will be October 1st from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The EMP is a great hands-on experience where you can pretend you're playing in a rock band or try out different musical instruments. They also have a plethora of musical history and fun facts. For only having visited the EMP once before when it first opened in 2000 not too much as changed.

The Sci-Fi Museum opened in 2004 and while small is jam packed with anything and everything from Star Trek to Star Wars, Planet of the Apes, Red Dwarf, video games, movies, books, etc they've got it.

And of the things I really like about the Sci-Fi Museum is that they've made it into a unique space with tunnel like corridors that makes you feel transplanted right onto one of the Battlestar Galactica ships. Whatever your sci-fi fancy or fantasy you'll find it here but the experience will be all too short. Maybe one day they'll expand!

The EMP/Sci-Fi Museum is located at the Seattle Center next to the Space Needle, Key Arena, Seattle Center House, and the fountain. The location is a great area to spend an afternoon soaking up the sun (while it lasts) and listening to the music and water pumping out of the fountain while kids and like-minded adults try not to get wet. The center house offers quick bites to eat and if you have a sweet tooth plenty of candy and fudge to keep you going on a sugar rush for the rest of the day.

Going to Check Out a Museum Tonight With Free Admission

The Seattle Times put out a nice article summarizing all of the museums in Seattle that are open with free admission on the first Thursday of the month. Which means today!

I'm debating between the Experience Music Project since I've only been there once and it was when it first opened or the Museum of Flight as it's always an oldie but goodie.

Will let you know if we make it!
